Lightbearer

Project: Lightbearer
Project Type: Game Jam
Engine: Unreal 5
Client: 2 man Game Jam Team
What is Lightbearer?
Lightbearer is a project developed by myself and LuclinFTW as a 2 man team entry for the Epic Megajam 2025 game jam. Lightbearer is a short game about restoring light to worlds that have fallen into darkness. You play as a lone priest sent to reignite the ancient beacons and push back the shadows.
Lightbearer was designed and developed over the course of 5 days start to finish.
My Involvement:
I was part of a 2 man team, we both worked on many aspects of the game. However, I handled the lions share of the programming and animation work, while my partner mostly worked on level design and effects:
• Character, Controller, Locomotion, and Animation
• Enemy AI
• Player and AI combat system
• Player Lightbearer powers / abilities which included a custom dynamic localized fog system and the players ability to use their Lightbearer powers to push back the fog and unveil the area around them, Lightbearer powers to create a temporary static sanctified area that pushed back the fog, lit the darkness, and damaged enemies / healed the player within its borders
• Functionality for protective beacons and players ability to cleanse the corruption from and relight them, which formed a large protective area around the beacon where the darkness was vanished and the daylight returned. Leaving the protected area would see the player plunged back into darkness and have the corrupted fog return. Once all of the beacons were cleansed and relit, the corruption and darkness was permanently banished from the entire map.
• Player and AI Stats implementation
• UI and UI code
